It comes in both white and black colors that can be used to heat or cool a building depending on the climate. Obviously, a black color would decrease heating costs in a Northern environment.
Also known as Polyvinyl Chloride, this roofing system has been on the market for decades. Although it does have an Energy Star rating for decreasing cooling costs in hot climates, it’s has a very high chemical content.
